Please meet the Co-Chairs of FAAM, Families of African Ancestry at Mirman; Jeanette and Finley Polynice, and Syreta and Jason Travis, who steward the longest-standing affinity group at Mirman. They gratefully shared with us a bit about the group and its mission.
FAAM includes current students, parents, faculty, and admin, as well as past students and families. FAAM is a safe and brave space for Black families to connect, build, and share their unique and collective experiences about what it means to be Black at Mirman.
Our group takes the collective temperature of the Black community on campus and arranges meet-ups for in-person connection. FAAM's most recent outing at a local pumpkin patch was a bounty of joy, apparent on the faces of our friends and family as will be our upcoming Annual Mirman FAAMily Reunion.
Join us on Sunday, February 27, at 3:30 p.m. for a virtual gathering with guest speakers, a DJ, and fun games adults and children alike will revel in.
Though it will be virtual again this year, as those in attendance last year can attest, the energy, love, and celebration reverberated across the digital divide. We hope to “see” you there and in any and all of the spaces we gather.
