Raised to the power of Mirman

Student Advisory Council

The Lower School Student Advisory Council (LS SAC) gives students from Fourth Grade the opportunity to apply for positions within the LS SAC team. Selected students are chosen to participate in the Assemblies, Community Connections, and Student Voice committees. Each committee is paired with faculty sponsors to support facilitation of committee meetings and to foster broader leadership skill development.

Assemblies
This committee supports the programing of our assemblies with their ideas and presentations. Students participate in various assemblies such as the Black History Month presentation, the Lunar New Year assembly, Armenian Heritage celebration, movement activities, songs, and much more. They also have the opportunity to lead our Lower School only assemblies as our MCs. Their experience culminates in creating the programming for our final Lower School assembly of the year.

Community Connections
This committee focuses on developing and strengthening internal and external community connections. Students have the opportunity to play a key role in service learning initiatives throughout Mirman.

Student Voice
This committee focuses on listening to student voices and coming up with ways to address any issues identified by students. In the past, they specifically have looked at ways to support positive friendships, improve recycling efforts in the Lower School, and ways to improve the hot lunch service. This group of student leaders proves that Mirman students are both perceptive and persistent in making our school a better place.
