What happens when our Upper School students have talent bursting at the seams? Well, Mirman’s first-ever Cocoa House, of course!
Cocoa House is a nod to coffeehouse events, where people gather to sing, dance, and perform comedy or spoken word. Our US students came together to do just that (with cocoa in hand), as a means to stay connected, share a laugh, and build community all via Zoom.
Over a two-month period, Upper School Science Teacher Stephanie Braun and Upper School Science Assistant Teacher Elizabeth Lipshutz co-led the talent in organizing the logistics of taking Cocoa House virtual by creating a pre-recorded showcase filled with everything from musical and vocal performances, to card tricks and comedy skits, and even a baking demonstration!
For the group performances, Cocoa House talent showcased an amazing ability to synchronize their acts in a way that made viewers feel like they were all in one room. For the solo performances, our US students exuded confidence that matched any seasoned-performer!
Cocoa House “helped people find common interest and excitement, and also see how talented our community of students are...and we celebrate the unique qualities of our students whenever we can,” said Ms. Braun.
Bravo US kiddos, we can’t wait for the next one!
